Church Leadership

The Church is led by David Butcher and his wife Maureen, together with others from within the local church

Pastor David and Mrs. Maureen Butcher

David Butcher moved to Bournemouth at the end of 2000 with his wife Maureen. They moved on from Bournemouth to our Wimborne Church, taking up the reins in September 2002. They have two adult sons both of whom are involved with the ministry of churches north of London.

David and his wife Maureen's personal faith began in their respective Sunday Schools as children. Eventually they met at an Elim church in Rye Park (London). After marrying, both studied at the Elim Bible College for two years.

Having had some years experience as missionaries in Southern Africa, they returned to Britain where they worked for a time on International Missions promotions. They then took charge of the church in Gloucester where they stayed for eleven years. They then moved to Rotherham for what was a ten year stay. They moved from Rotherham to Bournemouth, a change which David describes as a ‘top-coat’ warmer!

David lists his main hobby as boats, bikes, (as in motorbikes). He is a keen DIY woodworker and enjoys photography. Maureen has recently become involved more with arts and crafts and flower arranging.

Dr. Michael Dye

Michael, has his doctorate in control engineering, and has worked in this technical field as a computer programmer and from time to time travels as a consultant, trouble shooting various computer controlled machine problems.

Michael and his wife Cathy moved to Wimborne in the summer of 1999, joining this fellowship shortly afterwards. They have three children, Emily, James and Isabella. Both Michael and Cathy have been involved in various aspects of the church over the last five years. Michael presently serves on the church leadership. His Bible based teaching is greatly appreciated in addition he helps with some of the more practical aspects of the church’s ministry. Cathy leads “Fledglings” parents and toddlers group which meets on a Friday morning.

Ryan Baldwin

Ryan also came onto the leadership team in June 2004. He is married to Penny and they have three boys, Joshua, Timothy and Reuben. Ryan managed a sheltered housing project in Wimborne, although now he has changed roles within the same organization. This means that he is often travelling around other schemes of the same group. They moved into the area six years ago and after much prayer, decided to move from their church in Ringwood and join Elim in Wimborne.

He’s one of the motor bike enthusiasts in the church and when time allows from the busy work load with the family, work responsibilities and church involvement, can often be found at the Poole ‘Bike Night’ events.

Ryan came onto the leadership of the church and then took on the job as treasurer of the fellowship. He can often be seen leading worship on Sundays and both he and Penny take an active role in the Sunday School at the church. He has been following an Elim Study course and has now gained an Elim, ‘Licensed to Minister’ credential.

Preaching and teaching within the church.

David has encouraged others to become involved in the various aspects of ministry. Both Michael and Ryan together with other members of the church are used in both preaching and other types of church work. The days of the one-man ministry have long gone and this small family is sometimes stretched but happy to serve.
